Description

TQ 3079 NW CITY OF WESTMINSTER PARLIAMENT STREET, SW1 92/17 (east side) 5.2.70 No 53 G.V. II Offices and chambers. 1896, by H Huntly-Gordon, terracotta work by Leach. Red brick and buff terracotta, slate roof. Franco-Flemish Renaissance style with Arts and Crafts sculptural details. 4 storeys with attic storey in turret and gable. 4 windows wide. Terracotta ground floor with off centre cambered arch entrance with moulded enrichment and similarly arched windows, under enriched entablature. Upper floors have basket handle arched windows in moulded surrounds and mullioned-transomed windows to flanking turret and gabled bay. Decorated bands between storeys and enriched entablature over 3rd floor. The interior has murals by Sir Frank Brangwyn. 1250
