Description

This is a terrace of houses at 5-15 Hamilton Terrace, built around 1830. The houses are constructed of yellow brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with stucco dressings, and have a Welsh slate roof. The terrace is three storeys high with a basement, and has a symmetrical design. A prominent central three-bay section projects forward, flanked by four-bay wings, and recessed two-storey entrance bays at each end. The basement is stuccoed, with railed steps leading to panelled front doors featuring patterned radial fanlights within round-arched surrounds. The ground floor windows are round-arched sash windows with glazing bars, and radial glazing in the upper parts; an exception is the casement window at number 13. A first-floor iron balcony is present. Above, the sash windows have glazing bars and are set within flat gauged brick arches. A cornice with mutules runs along the top of the building. The roof is a Mansard style, with later dormers added. The basement has a railed surround.
