Description

This is a row of houses located on the south side of Craven Road, in Westminster, dating from the mid-19th century. The houses are constructed of brick with stucco dressings, and the roof is not visible. The row comprises 4 storeys and each house has 2 bays. The ground floors have been adapted for shops, with some dating to the 19th and 20th centuries. Numbers 37 and 45 retain well-preserved 19th-century shop fronts; number 45's shop front is likely original, featuring 3 bays with fluted Corinthian half columns that return to the right, and it is comparable to the shop front of number 46 opposite. A continuous, bombé balcony runs across the first floor. The windows are square-headed and architraved, with cornices to the first and second floors; they are sash windows with glazing bars. A main cornice is positioned above the third floor.
