Description
No. 9 Bentinck Street is a terraced town house built around 1780 to 1790, with some alterations made in the mid-19th century. The building is constructed of stock brick, which is stained red, and features a channelled stucco ground floor. It has four storeys and a basement, with a width of three windows. The doorway is located to the right and includes a panelled door with a fanlight, all set within a stucco architrave that has a segmental arched head. The windows are recessed plate glass sashes, placed under segmental arches and surrounded by plain stucco. There is a plat band above the ground floor and a parapet with coping. The property also has cast iron area railings topped with urn finials. Inside, the house retains elegant plasterwork ceilings in the front rooms on the ground and first floors, as well as delicate turned balusters on the narrow open well staircase.
