Description
This is a pair of houses located in Clifton Gardens, Westminster, built in the mid-19th century. The houses are constructed of yellow brick with a stucco facade, and extend over four storeys plus a basement. The design is four bays wide, incorporating two-storey, three-window bows. A full-height recessed entrance bay with a porch is on the left, while a two-storey entrance bay with a porch features on the right. The double doors, complete with overlights, are within a pilastered porch featuring round arches and a console keystone. Stucco enrichments appear on the pilasters and in the spandrels. A modillion cornice runs along the top, and vermiculated quoins are present throughout. The ground floor has elliptical-arched sash windows with glazing bars and impost blocks. An iron balcony is situated to the bows on the first floor, supported by consoles. The sashes above are divided by composite pilasters. Consoles and a parapet with a roundel motif are also present. The second floor sashes have cornices supported by enriched consoles, with broken pediments to the left. Above this, sashes or casements are set within eared architraves. Sashes within eared architraves with cornices are found in the entrance bays.
