Description

No. 36 Marshall Street is a terrace house built around 1820. It is constructed of stock brick and features a slate roof. The building stands four storeys high and is two windows wide. On the ground floor, there is a house doorway located to the right, which is square-headed and has a panelled door with a small pane and a marginal glazed fanlight. There is also a provision for a shop front, indicated by wooden pilasters and an entablature, although this was either never completed or replaced early on with a recessed glazing bar sash window. The upper floors have recessed glazing bar sash windows set beneath flat gauged arches. The building is topped with a parapet that has coping. It is part of the redevelopment of Carnaby Street and Newburgh Street from around 1820.
