Description

TQ 2880 SE CITY OF WESTMINSTER PICCADILLY Wl 80/112 (north side) 30-5-72 No 95 GV II Town house. 1886 by Roper and Lovejoy. Stone faced, slate roof. Franco-Flemish inspired design. 4 storeys, basement and gabled attic storey. Narrow, symmetrical, 2 bay front set at slight tangent. Semicircular arched recessed porch entrance to left and 4 ground floor windows with semi-circular fanlights, flanked by pilasters from which spring bold console brackets supporting stone balustraded 1st floor balcony. 1st and 2nd floors with canted bay windows, flanked on 1st floor by Ionic pilasters with fluted consoles supporting entablature, those on 2nd floor set behind window guards, flanked by composite pilasters supporting enriched entablature with balustrade above. 3rd floor has 2 groups of 4 windows flanked by Corinthian pilasters; carved main cornice; twin gables to attic containing flat arched windows surmounted by pedimented oeil de boeuf, and linked by balustrade. Segmental pedimented dormer central to hipped roof. Plain left return with tall chimney stacks.
