Description

Nos 90 to 93 Piccadilly is a corner block of shops and chambers, built in 1883. The building features red brick with stucco ornamentation and dressings, topped with slate roofs, showcasing an eclectic High Victorian design. It has four main storeys and a gabled attic floor, with a symmetrical front that includes four windows. The ground floor shop fronts, which have mezzanines, are enclosed by banded semicircular arches and flanked by granite Doric columns that support an entablature.

Vertical stucco wind bays run continuously from the first to the third floors, with the outer bays canted on the first and second floors and flanked by pilasters on brick fields. The third floor features elaborately designed debased Composite capitals that support a stucco-enriched entablature. The first and second floor windows have moulded enrichments, and the central two bays on the first floor are topped with pediments. The gables of the attic are trimmed and decorated, with those over the end bays crowned by segmental broken pediments and linked by balustrading. The building also has tall chimney stacks.

The left flank wall facing the forecourt of No 94 is ashlar faced with cornices that return from the front. The return onto Half Moon Street is similar to the Piccadilly front but features a double entrance under a granite columned porch.
