Description

The Badminton Club is a former terrace of houses built in 1883 by Colonel Edis. It is located on the north side of Piccadilly, City of Westminster. Constructed with a stone façade and slate roof, the building incorporates Renaissance and Flemish architectural details. It comprises five main storeys and a dormered mansard roof.

The building’s elevation is divided into two unequal parts. The left side features a canted bay window that extends to the fourth floor, while the right side has a symmetrical canted bay window that rises the full height of the elevation. The ground floor features carved enrichment, with entrances located on the left and right. A shop front is centrally positioned, leading to a columned porch on the right that supports the taller canted bay. Cast iron balconies connect the two canted bays at each floor level. A cornice sits above the fourth floor, and a pedimented dormer is present on the left side, with a tall stone gable featuring a heraldic device in the apex and a carved finial on the right. A tall stack is also visible on the right side.
