Description
Nos 1, 3 and 5 Harley Street is a late 19th-century mansion block located on a corner site. It features a brick construction with buff terracotta dressings and a slate pitched roof that extends to the eaves. The building rises four to five storeys and has fourteen main bays facing Wimpole Street. The corner bay and the eighth bay from the left are taller and topped with polygonal ogee turrets, which define the taller wing. The intervening bays have windows that are recessed within arcaded loggias on the first, second, and third floors. The ground floor has arched windows and entrances set within a rusticated facade. The upper floors feature square-headed mullioned and transomed windows, some of which display an Ipswich motif. The building is adorned with tall moulded chimneys and has a similar return facade on Harley Street. Iron area railings complete the exterior.
