Description
Nos 2, 4 and 6 High Street is a house, now divided into offices, dating from the late 18th century. The building features colourwashed stucco on the ground floor and deep red/brown brick above, topped with a plain tiled roof that is obscured by a stone-coped parapet. It stands three storeys high and has three windows across the front, with a channelled ground floor and stacks at the ends of the rear. The first and second floors each have three 12-pane glazing-bar sash windows under gauged-brick heads, while the ground floor has two 15-pane glazing-bar sashes. To the right of centre, there is a door with six fielded panels set in a panelled reveal, topped by an elaborately traceried transom light decorated with ovals and margin tracery. The entrance is flanked by attached, fluted Greek Doric columns with cushion abaci and an entablature hood above. There are 20th-century extensions to the rear that are not of special interest.
