Built as the St. James's Bazaar, now offices. 1832 by Sir James Pennethorne, a neo-classical design with alterations in 1897 (heightening) and 1914. Large corner block stuccoed with slate roof. 4 storeys and dormered attics. 3 windows to St. James's and long 9 window return to King Street. Rusticated ground floor and quoins. Central Greek Doric porch to St. James's with canted bay above, added in keeping 1881, with bracketed cornice; recessed glazing bar sash windows, those on 1st floor semicircular arched with balustrades. Moulded strings between floors; main dentil and bracket cornice with pediment across 3rd floor. Cornice and blocking course with iron railings above later to attic storey. Main cornice, strings etc. returned to King Street elevation which has broad Tuscan portico with balustraded parapet. The 1st floor windows arcaded with pilaster jambs, some blind. Cast iron patterned balcony railing across 1st floor. The attic storey has pairs of semi-circular arched architraved windows with cast iron balconettes. Survey of London; vol XXIX
