Description
A terrace of twenty houses, numbers 1 to 20, located on the south side of Princes Square in the City of Westminster, was built in the mid-19th century. The houses are constructed of stucco and represent a balanced architectural composition. They are four storeys high, with an attic and basement level. Each house has a two-window frontage. The end houses, numbers 3 and 20, and the central six houses are set forward slightly, and feature rusticated quoins. The ground floor is channelled. The north side of the terrace incorporates Doric projecting porches and a triglyph frieze at ground floor level. A continuous balcony runs across the first floor. Windows are square-headed and architraved, with cornices to the first and second floors. Sashes are used for the windows, with casements on the first floor. A dentil cornice sits above the third floor. The terrace forms an integral part of the planned layout of Princes Square.
