Description

No. 19 Beak Street is a terrace house dating from the late 17th century or early 18th century, with some alterations made in the early 19th century. The building is constructed of brown brick and features a partially rebuilt top floor with a concealed roof. It stands four storeys high and is two windows wide. The ground floor includes an early to mid-19th century pilastered shop front, with a panelled house door to the right that has consoles supporting the entablature and fascia. The upper floors have added stucco architraves around the flat gauged arched windows from the 18th century. The parapet has coping. At the rear, the original brickwork is visible, along with segmental arched flush-framed sash windows. Inside, the building retains rebated panelling in the passage hall and a dog leg staircase featuring a closed string, substantial turned balusters, and column newels. The first-floor rooms still have most of their original panelling and box cornices.
