Description

The statue of George II is located in the center of Golden Square Garden in the City of Westminster. Created around 1720 by the sculptor Van Nost, this standing figure is made of Portland stone and depicts an allegorical representation of George II in Roman costume. Originally made for the Duke of Chandos's seat at Canons, the statue was acquired during the sale of that estate and was erected in Golden Square in 1753. It is set on a low pedestal with a cornice.
