Description
No. 24 Golden Square is a terrace house built around 1675. It features a stock brick front with red rubbed brick dressings and a slate roof, although its style is more reflective of the 1720s. The building has four storeys and a basement, with a width of three windows. The entrance likely dates from the late 18th century and includes a semicircular arched doorway with a six-panel door and a radial glazed fanlight to the right. There are two windows with segmental arches, one of which has been converted into a doorway. The upper floors have slightly recessed exposed frame sash windows with glazing bars, set under segmental gauged rubbed brick arches and with rubbed dressings. A moulded brick cornice runs beneath the attic storey, topped by a parapet with coping. Wrought iron area railings are present. Inside, the building retains elements of first-floor panelling and cornices, as well as part of a staircase similar to that of No. 23. No. 24 is noted as the oldest surviving building in Golden Square.
