Description

Nos. 58 to 68 Great Cumberland Place are terraced townhouses built around 1800 to 1820 as part of the Portman Estate development. They are constructed of stock brick with channelled stucco on the ground floors and have concealed slate roofs. The buildings rise five storeys above a basement and feature three-window wide fronts.

To the right, there are semicircular arched doorways with pilaster jambs, leading to panelled doors topped with patterned fanlights. The upper floors have recessed sash windows set beneath flat gauged arches. A plat band finishes the ground floor stuccowork, and there is a stucco sill band at the third floor of No. 60, along with a stucco stringcourse above the third floor. The buildings are topped with a dentil cornice and blocking course.

Original cast iron balconies with geometric patterns adorn the first floor, and there are cast iron area railings with urn finials. No. 68 features a four-bay return that mirrors the details found on Bryanston Square, along with a recessed east wing.
