Description
St Ermin's Hotel is a hotel built between 1887 and 1889, designed by E T Hall. It features a red brick exterior with stone dressings and a slate and lead roof. The building has a 'U' shaped plan that surrounds an entrance court and consists of six storeys plus an attic and basement. The facade is multibay, with an entrance porch supported by a cast iron colonnade leading into the 'U' shaped entrance court. Most of the windows are square-headed, with some set in trefoil window heads. There are corbelled bay windows at intervals, starting from the second floor, and the parapet is adorned with Dutch gables. Wrought iron area railings enhance the exterior. Inside, the main spaces, including the foyer, dining room, and ballroom, are designed in a Baroque style, featuring rich and high-quality plasterwork. The building was originally constructed as St Ermin's Mansions.
