Description

This building, located at 130 Mount Street, is a Grade II listed corner block that includes a town house facing Berkeley Square and an office with flats above. It was constructed between 1880 and 1882 and designed by J T Wimperis. The structure is made of red brick, featuring gauged red brick arches and detailing, along with terracotta dressings, and showcases a Free Jacobean-cum-Queen Anne style.

The building stands four storeys tall, with a basement and a tiled mansard attic, and is topped with massive ribbed chimney stacks. It has broad projecting window bays that include grouped and single sash windows, as well as mullioned and transomed casements, which rise into shaped or pedimented Dutch gables. The doorways are adorned with terracotta dressed "console" pilasters, and there are terracotta balconies, with the one on the first floor facing the square being continuous. Ornate cast iron area railings enhance the exterior.

Inside, the building features an elegant staircase and rooms designed in a simple Queen Anne style. A stained glass stair light incorporates portrait roundels of the artists Tasso and Rembrandt.
