Description
Faith House is an office building and institute located on Tufton Street in the City of Westminster. It was designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens in 1907 and originally built as the St. John's Institute. The structure features dark brown brick with stone dressings and a pantile roof, showcasing a clever Georgian-style palazzo design.
The building is two stories high with a dormered attic and is five windows wide. On the ground floor, there are three large stone archivolt arched openings with flanking panelled piers; the outer openings serve as doorways while the central one functions as a window. The piano nobile has tall recessed glazing bar sashes set within stone architraves that include cornices. Additional architectural details include a stone plinth, a brick and stone first-floor plat band, a sill band, and a prominent moulded eaves cornice. The eaves also feature large glazing bar sashed dormers, with the central dormer being pedimented. The interior has not been inspected.
