Description
Amesbury School is a building designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens in 1903, originally constructed as a private house. It is designed in a Neo-Georgian style and is made of buff brick with red brick quoins and dressings. The facade facing the road is a single storey with 13 bays, where the central 7 bays are slightly recessed. It features a central door with a pedimented stone doorcase and sash windows on either side. The roof is large, hipped, and covered with tiles, including dormers. The rear facade is two storeys high and consists of 11 bays, with the central 3 bays projecting and topped with a pediment. It has a central door with a niche above, flanked by bay sash windows, and small sash windows on both floors of the flanking blocks. There are tall brick chimney-stacks present. Additionally, there is a north block that is at right angles to the main building and is designed in a more vernacular style.
