Description
The statue located opposite the south entrance of the new main building of The Royal London Hospital was erected in 1908. It is a bronze statue of Queen Alexandra, standing in full size atop a white stone plinth. The plinth features a pictorial plaque in low relief that commemorates the Queen's visits to the sick. This statue was established in recognition of the Queen's presidency of the London Hospital in 1904 and her efforts in introducing the Tilsen Lamp to combat Lupus. In 2013, the statue was relocated to its current position.
