Description
26 and 28 Newark Street are early 19th-century houses constructed of stock brick, featuring a parapet with a roof that is not visible. The buildings rise three storeys above a basement and each has two windows. The first and second floors have recessed windows with gauged flat arches, while the first-floor windows are set in round arched recesses. The windows include sashes and French casements with glazing. There is a brick band below the coping and a stone band at the first floor. The two houses have been combined into one block, and the former door on Newark Street has been replaced by a sash window. These houses, along with 28 to 42 Newark Street, form a group with St Augustine with St Philip's Church on Stepney Way.
