Description
St Augustine with St Philip's Church, formerly listed as St Philip's Church, is a Grade II* building located on Stepney Way in London. Constructed between 1888 and 1892, the church was designed by architect Arthur Cawston in the Early English style. It is built of red brick with white stone dressings and features a lofty structure topped with a shingled fleche. The church includes brick intersecting vaults with stone quoins, an ambulatory arcade leading to the apsidal chancel, and an apsidal Lady Chapel at the east end. The porch at the west end serves as the base for a tower that was never completed. This church is recognized as a good example of its architectural style and forms a group with Nos 28 to 42 (even) Newark Street.
