Description

These are two 18th-century houses, originally part of a terrace that included numbers 261 and 263 on Whitechapel Road. The buildings are constructed of brick and feature a parapet and a tiled mansard roof. They rise to three storeys with dormer windows, and have four windows in total. The lower two storeys are painted, with a band marking the division between the first and second floors. The second-floor windows are sash windows with glazing bars. The first floor has modern replacement windows, and the ground floor features modern shop fronts. An arched entrance provides access to Wood's Buildings, located underneath number 265. The King Edward VII Jewish Memorial Drinking Fountain forms a visual grouping with numbers 255 to 257 on the same side of the road.
