Description

The Albion Brewery entrance block is an early 19th-century building, with later alterations and additions, located on the north side of Whitechapel Road. It forms the eastern section of the brewery complex. The building is constructed of stock brick with white stone cornices and bands. The roof is not visible. It is four storeys high and has six windows on each floor, with the top floor windows being blank. The windows are double-brick arched and contain unbarred sashes. The walls connect to gate piers topped with white stone caps, and a wrought iron overthrow is also present.

The main recessed entrance is set within a stock brick and brown/white stone surround. A carriageway is defined by a round arch beneath a broken pediment, and the tympanum is decorated with the name 'Albion Brewery'. Fluted Ionic pilasters and three round-headed windows with architraves are located on the first floor. A pediment surmounts the building. An entrance lodge, built of white stone, is situated inside the outer gateway.
