Description

These are two 18th-century buildings on South Street, Titchfield. They are painted brick with a brick eaves cornice and an old tiled roof. The building is two storeys high and has four window bays, with the outer bays set back. Number 40 has a 19th-century shop window with three lights, a doorway to the south with fluted pilasters, a pediment, and a semi-circular tympanum. The door and window have vertical glazing bars. The sash windows of number 42 have glazing bars, although some have been replaced. Numbers 40 to 46 (even), together with numbers 41 to 45 (odd) and numbers 2 to 6 (even) on Castle Street, form a group and are considered an important local feature.
