Description
Nos. 9-13 Elder Street, built around 1720, are three-storey brown brick buildings with red brick dressings and a basement, featuring dormers. Originally, they were two houses with five and four windows respectively, but No. 11 has had an entrance added later. The ground floor of No. 11 is finished in stucco, with a band above it, and the buildings have a parapet and a tiled roof. The windows have segmental-headed arches and double hung sashes in flush frames with glazing bars. Nos. 9 and 13 feature wooden doorcases with rusticated Doric pilasters, triglyphs, and a dentilled cornice, while No. 11 has a plain semi-circular headed doorway with a fanlight that includes decorative glazing bars. Wrought iron railings with finials are present at Nos. 9 and 11, and No. 13 has curved wrought iron guards for its basement windows. The road surface of Elder Street, along with Nos. 1 to 23 (odd) and Nos. 24 to 36 (even), forms a group with Nos. 9 and 10, as well as the road surface of Fleur de Lys Street.
