Description
12A Asylum Road is a former annexe to the offices of almshouses, built between 1913 and 1914 by architect F.E. Harford and builder H.L. Holloway. The building is constructed of brick in Flemish bond, featuring stone trim and ornamentation in a restrained Baroque style. It stands three storeys tall and has a segmental bay with three windows that stops just short of the entablature. The ground floor is made of stone, with an entrance located to the right of the bay. The corner pilasters are of the Ionic order, supporting an entablature with a pediment. All bay windows are flat-arched, and there is a keyed roundel to the right of the bay on the first floor. The top storey features plaques flanking the bay. The design is intended to harmonise with the earlier almshouses created by Henry Rose. The interior has not been inspected.
