Description
The South Lodge to the Licensed Victuallers' Benevolent Institution, located on Asylum Road in Southwark, was built in 1839 by Henry Rose. This single-storey structure features stock brick with a stucco cornice, blocking course, and dressings. It has three bays, with pilasters of varying widths that support a narrow architrave. Above the central bay is a stucco frieze over a pediment. The central door has a stucco architrave with a cornice head and an oblong fanlight with margin lights. The sash windows also have shouldered architraves with margin lights. The lodge sits on a low plinth, and the chimney is designed as an acroterion. The returns on either side of the lodge each have a single bay with similar pediments. The interior has not been inspected.
