Description
This building, located at 4 Woods Road, is a house that has been converted into offices. It dates from the late 17th century and underwent alterations around 1820 and later. The exterior features white painted render over the original brick structure, with the roof hidden behind a later parapet.
The building is three storeys high and has three bays, with a later extension at the rear. The central entrance has a shallow segmental pediment and a moulded shouldered architrave. The windows are all sash types with glazing bars. The left-hand ground-floor bay and the first-floor windows are two-light, featuring timber pilaster jambs and mullions. There is a later pair of windows to the right of the door, and one immediately to the left of the door, which matches the one on the right but is now blocked. The second-floor windows have timber surrounds, with the central window having 12 panes, while the outer bays have 16 panes each.
Inside, the building retains original timber beams visible on all floors. There is one wainscoted room on the first floor, along with a panelled landing and a stairway on the first floor.
