Description
Whynscar is a house that has been converted into offices. It dates back to the 17th century, with extensions and a new facade added in the 18th century, and further alterations and extensions made in the late 20th century.
The building features a combination of materials, including part timber frame encased in brick and part brick laid in Flemish bond with some dark headers. It has an old tiled gabled roof. Originally, the structure had a rectangular plan consisting of two framed bays with a two-bay crosswing.
The exterior is partly two storeys high, with some sections having an attic. On the left side, there is a large, tall chimney with a corniced head and clay pots, while a smaller chimney is located on the right. The windows include 18th and 20th-century replacement sash windows with glazing bars and gauged brick heads.
The entrance front faces south and features a projecting gable on the left with a plat band at the first floor and a moulded brick string at the attic level. This gable previously had two windows on the ground and first floors, which are now blocked, although the gauged brick arched heads remain visible. The right-hand section of the building has three bays and is irregular in shape, with a plat band at the first floor and a later parapet. There are gauged brick arches over the windows. The entrance door is located on the left and is topped with a pedimented hood supported by small wooden brackets. The interior has not been inspected.
