Description
Copped Hall is a villa, now used as offices, built in the early 19th century. A tower was added around 1840, and the building was extended in the late 19th century. It features painted stucco and slate hipped low-pitched roofs, with a rectangular plan.
The exterior is two storeys high and includes two symmetrical chimneys on the oldest part, which have corniced heads and terracotta pots. The boxed eaves complement the sash windows, which have glazing bars on the ground floor, along with reeded architraves, small pediments, and bracketed sills. The entrance front faces east and has a three-bay symmetrical centre section that projects outward. It features a square central enclosed porch with bracketed eaves and a concave lead roof topped with an acorn finial, along with a 20th-century panelled entrance door. To the right, there is a single-storey extension, and to the left, a square Italianate tower rises above the main house, also with bracketed eaves, a low-pitched hipped roof, and a finial. The first-floor window in the tower is round-arched with a raised surround, impost blocks, and a scrolled keystone, while the ground-floor window matches the others.
Inside, there is a dog-leg staircase with stick balusters.
