Description

A pair of houses dating from around 1835, located on Camberwell Grove. The houses are constructed of stucco and feature a cornice and blocking course along the top of the facade. They are three (formerly two) storeys high, with a basement, and each house is three bays wide. The central four bays of the pair slightly project forward. There are single-storey entrance extensions on either side. The windows are casement windows in plain reveals. The ground floor windows are taller, and the windows in the outer bays of each house are flanked by a half Doric fluted column and pilaster; blind boxes are present in the central section. Cast-iron balconies are attached to the ground and first-floor windows. Later windows on the second floor break through the original cornice at sill level. A stucco band defines the division between the ground and first floors. The interior has not been inspected. Numbers 144-166 (even) form a group.
