Description
A pair of semi-detached houses dating from the mid-19th century, located on Camberwell Grove. The houses are constructed of brick in Flemish bond, with stucco cement trim. They have hipped roofs covered in slate. Each house has two windows. Each unit has a flat-arched entrance set within a two-storey stair hall, with a Tuscan column and responds forming a porch on the corner. A balustrade flanks the steps and encloses the porch. Above the entrances is an entablature with a bracketed cornice. Round-arched windows are present on the two-storey return wings, featuring architraves and keystones of vermiculated rustication, and a bracketed cornice to the first floor. The main range has camber-arched basement windows and round-arched ground-floor windows with eared and shouldered architraves, and panelled lower spandrels that incorporate vermiculated keystones. A storey band sits between the ground and first floor. First-floor windows are flat-arched with projecting sills on vermiculated brackets and have architraves. A band acts as the entablature, leading into an eaves cornice. Chamfered and fielded corner quoins are visible on the main block and entrance porches. A rusticated, full-height strip runs along the party wall, extending above the roofline. A stack is positioned on the party wall. Two dormers, each with a flat arch and shouldered surround, are present, exhibiting an original design. The interior was not inspected.
