Description
The parish boundary stone, dating from 1819, marks the boundaries between the parishes of St Paul's Deptford and St Mary's Rotherhithe. It consists of a stone pier approximately 4 feet high, featuring a moulded cornice and plinth. The pier has a vertical incised line with the letters "ST. P.D." on the left and "ST. M.R." on the right, both accompanied by the date 1819. Additionally, the right side of the stone displays the dates 1877 and 1886. Attached to the left side is a section of stock brick walling, about 3 feet 6 inches high, topped with stone coping and extending approximately 20 feet long, ending in a square pier with a stone cornice. In front of the stone is a section of paving slabs, some of which are tooled, measuring about 6 feet wide by 30 feet long, edged with granite slabs.
