Description

The Royal Victoria Yard Entrance, dating from around 1768 and likely designed by Samuel Wyatt, features a central entranceway flanked by wooden double gates. An ornamental stone arch supports a six-panel door. The arch is enhanced by pilasters and impost blocks, which hold a monolith with an arch carved out, a bucranium keystone, and garlands above. The upper section of the entrance has curved sides and displays a hallowed medallion with intertwined anchors, topped with a cornice and blocking courts.
