Description

The Willowbrook Urban Studies Centre, formerly known as No. 48 Willowbrook Road, is a house dating from around 1840 that has been converted into a college. The building is constructed of stucco and features a low-pitched hipped slate roof. It stands two storeys high with a basement and has three windows facing the road. The basement projects forward, creating a ground-floor loggia that is covered by a lead canopy and adorned with decorative cast-iron railings. The central entrance door is framed by a stucco architrave and topped with a cornice supported by console brackets. The façade is enhanced by giant angle pilasters. The sash windows, which include margin lights, are fitted with stucco architraves, bracketed sills, and canted reveals, except for the central window on the first floor and the basement openings, which are segmental-headed and set within segmental-arched recesses. The interior has not been inspected.
