Description

A terrace of fifteen houses, built in the early 19th century on Camberwell New Road. The houses are constructed of yellow brick, with some frontages appearing to have been rebuilt; they are finished with a stucco cornice and blocking course. The terrace is arranged in a composition including stepped ends to a higher central section. Each house is three storeys high, with two bays. Numbers 262 to 276 have basements. The doorways and ground-floor windows are round-arched, with stucco impost details. Those at numbers 262 to 276 are set within shallow round-arched recesses. Steps lead to the doors, flanked by fluted quadrant pilasters, except at numbers 254, 258, 280, and 282. Decorative fanlights are above the doors at numbers 256, 258, 266, 268, and 274. A later extension to the right contains the door to number 254. Flat, gauged-brick arches define the first and second-floor sash windows, which have glazing bars. A sill band and cast-iron window guards are present, except at numbers 256 and 276 to 282. The interior of the houses has not been inspected. The terrace is accompanied by wrought-iron area railings and handrails.
