Description

This is an early to mid-19th century pair of buildings located on the south side of Camberwell New Road. Each building is three storeys high with a basement, and originally comprised three windows, although No. 216 has subsequently had an additional bay added to its right side. The buildings are constructed of stock brick with a stucco frieze, cornice, and blocking course, and an impost string defining the arcaded ground floor, which rests on a band. They have sash windows with margin lights set in stucco-lined reveals and sit beneath gauged brick arches, which are round on the ground floor. No. 216 features a door of two long panels, with a cornice head and a plain fanlight, contained within a prostyle Ionic porch. No. 218 has a more modern door and has lost its original porch.
