Description
The Rotherhithe (Holy Trinity) War Memorial features a cross atop a tall fluted pillar, which is adorned with wrap-around leaf garland carvings. This pillar is set on a platform that displays the words "FOR GOD, KING AND COUNTRY" on its front face. Below the platform is a plinth topped with a decorated pediment. The front face of the pediment bears the inscription: IN HONOURED MEMORY / OF MEN OF THIS PARISH / WHO LAID DOWN THEIR / LIVES IN THE GREAT / EUROPEAN / WAR. / REST ETERNAL GRANT UNTO THEM / O LORD, AND LET LIGHT PERPETUAL / SHINE ON THEM. The names of the Fallen are inscribed on the right and left faces. The entire structure stands on a three-step base.
