Description

Number 117 is a bank building located in Dulwich Village, dating from around 1880. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, with ashlar masonry on the ground floor. The building features a mansarded slate roof and cast-iron railings. It has two storeys above a basement and includes flat-arched dormers. The façade has a five-window range, with the end sections projecting on the ground floor to create porches, while the upper floors project slightly.

The ground floor is articulated by pilasters and topped with an entablature, although the frieze is obscured by a sign fascia. The porches are adorned with balustrades and feature round-arched entrances supported by three columns at each corner. All other openings are flat-arched and have architraves. The first-floor openings have a cornice that projects on acanthus brackets, with a sill band connecting the three central windows. The dormers at the end bays are set within aedicules and topped with segmental pediments, while the central section has three flat-arched dormers behind a balustraded parapet. The right return continues the main elevation's design with an additional bay. There are stacks located on the left return and rear, as well as between the first and second window ranges.

The interior has not been inspected. The building also features railings to the area and a gate to the alley on the south side.
