Description
1 The Polygon is an early to mid-18th century building that has undergone significant alterations in the 19th century. It stands three storeys tall, featuring three windows on the east front and two on the north. The structure is made of stock brick and has a rendered parapet. The late 19th century sash windows are topped with cambered brick arches. The central windows on both upper floors have been blocked, and the panels have been covered with stucco. At first floor level, four and three large oilmen's jars are attached to the walls, resting on the blocking course of mid-19th century shop fronts that retain their original glazing. These shop fronts are framed by narrow pilasters around the doors and windows, topped with a simplified entablature and blocking course.
