Description

This is a late 18th-century building, likely originally a single house, located on the west side of Old Town in Clapham. It has been altered over time and is now two properties, numbered 8 and 8A. The building is three storeys high with an attic, and features three windows. It is constructed of stock brick with parapet coping rebuilt in brick and tile, and has a slate roof with a mansard roof and dormers. The side windows are tripartite sashes with glazing bars, set beneath flat, gauged brick arches. The ground floor has been considerably altered, featuring a modern shop front on the left, tiled areas in the centre, and what may be original carriage doors beneath a beam on the right. The entrance to No. 8 is a six-panel door located slightly left of centre. The building is included on the list for its group value.
