Description

This is a mid-19th century terrace of six houses, numbered 36 to 42, forming a quadrant-shaped arrangement with curved front and back walls. It is one of four similar quadrants built around a small circular green, with radiating streets in between. Each house has two storeys and a basement, and is three windows wide.

The houses are constructed of stock brick with a banded stucco basement. There is a recess on the party walls between the properties, and egg and dart moulding under the soffit of the fairly low-pitched slated roof. Stuccoed dividing chimney walls are topped with modillion cornices. The sash windows have gauged brick arches and wide margin lights, with the ground floor windows being round-headed. Ornamental cast iron guards are fixed to projecting iron bracketed cills. A run of eight steps leads to a four-panel door, each with a rectangular fanlight, set within a prostyle Doric porch.
