Description
This is an early to mid-19th century terrace of houses, originally symmetrical in design, but now lacking its eastern end. The terrace runs along Camberwell New Road and comprises numbers 122 to 138 (even). Each house has three storeys and a basement, with three windows to the front. Numbers 130 and 132 have slated mansard roofs with dormers. The other roofs are hidden behind a stucco frieze, cornice, and blocking course. The walls are of stock brick with a rusticated stucco ground floor, creating the impression of voussoirs around the round-headed windows. The windows are sash windows with glazing bars; those on the upper floor are set beneath gauged flat brick arches and sit within stucco reveals. Most houses have four steps leading to a front door, the steps generally incorporating patterned cast iron handrails. The doors themselves are made of five or six panels, and feature fluted pilasters topped with lion mask or paterae capitals, a cornice head, and a patterned fanlight. Number 122 has a set-back right bay which now contains a garage door.
