Description

This is an early to mid-19th century terrace of six properties, numbered 5 to 13, located on the north side of St Mary’s Gardens. Each property is two storeys high with a high basement and originally had two windows. The external appearance is of stock brick with a stone-coped parapet, and a stuccoed basement. The first-floor windows are sash windows with glazing bars, set beneath flat, gauged brick arches. The ground-floor windows are long casements with transoms, and are accompanied by cast iron ornamental balconies set under stuccoed lintels. A set of five steps with a wrought iron handrail leads to a five-panel door in a stucco surround with a cornice. The properties are further defined by cast or wrought iron area railings.
