Description

This is a late 18th or early 19th century terrace of sixteen houses, each with three storeys and a basement, and originally featuring two windows. The houses are constructed of stock brick with a stone-coped parapet and stone cills to the windows, which are set beneath gauged brick arches – flat on the upper floors and round on the ground floor, contained within round-arched recesses. The upper windows have glazing bars, while the ground floor windows have margin lights and fanlights. Ornamental cast iron balconies are present at numbers 14 and 15. The front doors are of four panels, with panelled pilasters, a mutuled cornice head, and a fanlight set within a stucco-lined reveal in a round-arched recess. Wrought iron handrails and area railings with spearhead standards and urn finials are also original features. Number 16 has only one bay facing the front, but three bays on the left return. This house is built of light red brick with yellow gauged brick window arches and a rounded corner. It has two blank windows and a central door, above which are plain sashes. Numbers 1 to 22 together form a visually cohesive group.
