Description

The Tomb of Mary Ann Thurston, who died in 1896, is located in Kensal Green Cemetery. It features a Carrara marble cross set on a stepped base and slab. The tomb includes a circular relief of the Madonna and child, created by H.R.H. Princess Louise, which is signed on the east side of the base. This monument was erected by Queen Victoria and her children in memory of their former nurse and is a unique example of funerary sculpture by a member of the Royal Family.
