Description
The Tomb of Samuel Griffith, who died in 1833, is located in Kensal Green Cemetery and is possibly designed by John Griffith, the architect responsible for the cemetery's buildings. This altar-tomb is made of Portland stone and sits on a stepped grey granite base. Each face of the tomb features fielded panels flanked by inverted torches, with a fluted frieze and cherub heads at the corners. The tomb is topped with a scrolled pedimental cover. It is one of the earliest monuments in the cemetery.
